There is a specialty to be discovered in every region. Regarding the wines, the port is widely known. But the country has many more authentic wines from indigenous grape varieties. They are definitely worth tasting.

The ocean naturally supplies plenty of fresh fish. The most popular fish is the bacalhau (salted cod). The fish comes from the vast Atlantic coast, which is regarded by various well-known international chefs as the best fish in the world.
In addition, the Portuguese prefer to eat rice, something they have learned from their historical journeys from the East. The food is often combined with the delicious Port or other local wines.
Many olives are grown in Portugal. The meat is often home-grown and because Portugal is a real seafaring country, there is a lot of fresh seafood with seafood on every menu.
