What is the situation with the Turkish economy?
Turkey has a dynamic economy with a mix of modern industries and trade, but is also largely dependent on the traditional agricultural sector. 35% of the Turkish population is dependent on this agricultural sector.
In the cities, they form the administrative centers where the wealthy landowners live and where power is exercised.
The government plays a very important role in industry, banking, transport and communication. The most important export products are textiles and clothes, but also white goods, glass and electronics. Cotton, tobacco, hazelnuts, tea and dried dried fruits are the most important agricultural export products.
Tourism and the construction of real estate projects along the coast have been an important source of income in recent years. Due to poverty, Turks are selling their houses and land for a cheap price to (foreign) project developers.
